Advantages and qualities of pressed ceramic porcelain, zirconia, and gold-ceramic crowns, bridges

I.Material:

Pressed ceramic porcelain:

100% metal-free, the material of the crown is pressed at high-pressure, so the crown becomes mechanically resistent

Zirconia:

100% metal-free, consists of natural minerals, it is a strong material so it is suitable for making bridges
Made by CAD/CAM procedure: it is a process that is designed and manufactured by computer. The crown is 3-dimensionally trimmed from a block of zirconia. Hereby, the opportunity of human fault can be excluded.

Gold-ceramic crown with porcelain masking:

This kind of crown has a gold base which provides stability and made by galvanization.
The plaster cast of the teeth is dipped into a solution containing gold. On the surface of the cast, a thin layer of gold secedes, which fits to the teeth precisely.

II. Crowns for different types of teeth loss:

Pressed ceramic porcelain:

Suggested for the lack of frontal teeth. It is a little bit harder than tooth enamel. Solo crowns can be made of this material.

Zirconia:

Suggested for the lack of frontal and molar teeth, it is also suitable for making bridges.

Gold-ceramic crown with porcelain masking:

Suggested for the lack of frontal and molar teeth, mostly this material is used for making solo crowns. The prosthesis is as hard as the traditional metal-ceramic crown.

III. Aesthetics:

Pressed ceramic porcelain:

The whole crown is ceramic, so it has a high level of aesthetics. Using this material, we can reproduce the natural colours of teeth. The translucency of the material is similar to natural teeth’s.

Zirconia:

Due to the high level of translucency, it is much more aesthetic than the traditional metal-ceramic crown, its color is similar to natural teeth.

Gold-ceramic crown with porcelain masking:

The ceramic layer on the gold base is thicker, so we can provide a high level of aesthetics. The gold-colored „cap” acts like the prisms of enamel, so it can provide a realistic and natural effect.

IV. In case of the tooth is root-canal filled:

Pressed ceramic porcelain:

If the tooth is just a little bit discolored, the pressed ceramic porcelain crown can cover it. Deeply and highly discolored teeth needs whitening before attaching the crown.

Zirconia:

If the tooth is just a little bit discolored, the pressed ceramic porcelain crown can cover it. Deeply and highly discolored teeth needs whitening before attaching the crown.

Gold-ceramic with porcelain masking:

This kind of crown can be applied in case of root-canal filled, deeply and highly discolored teeth without the need of whitening.

V. Further advantages:

Pressed ceramic porcelain:

The preparation of teeth needs much less removal of tooth-material (0,7-1 mm), so the chance of damaging the pulp is minimal. The material is 100% metal-free, it does not have any harmful effect on your body, so it is called biocompatible.

It is antiallergic.

The crown perfectly fits to the prepared surface.

Before attaching, we at NaturaDENT apply a special laser to disinfect the surfaces. With this method, we destroy all the bacteria on the surface of the tooth, to minimize the possibility of secondary caries.

Zirconia:

This kind of material is metal-free, and does not cause allergy.

The material does not conduct heat, so you will not feel sensitivity to hot or cold things.

Before attaching, we at NaturaDENT apply a special laser to disinfect the surfaces. With this method, we destroy all the bacteria on the surface of the tooth, to minimize the possibility of secondary caries.

Gold-ceramic crown with porcelain masking:

This kind of material is tooth-sparing, so teeth are less likely to become damaged.

The crown made of gold and ceramic is precise, perfectly fits to the prepared surface, so there is a less chance of secondary caries.

It is durable, and breakage resisting.

Gold has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial a bacteriostatic feature, so it prevents the colonization of bacteria near the edge of the crown. So there is a less chance of evolving secondary caries, gingiva recession and periodontal pockets.

The material does not contain inert materials, so the number of allergic reactions are minimal.

Before attaching, we at NaturaDENT apply a special laser to disinfect the surfaces. With this method, we destroy all the bacteria on the surface of the tooth, to minimize the possibility of secondary caries.

What are the characteristics of a pressed ceramic crown?

It is made by a modern procedure: the material is pressed with high pressure, so it becomes mechanically strong, almost as hard as titanium. The whole crown is made of one ceramic block, so it is aesthetic and does not contain a metallic part. It does not cause any allergic symptom, so we recommend it for those who are sensitive to metals.

The pressed ceramic (porcelain) crown is mainly applied for the incisors, because of the material’s identical colours. The indicating of the porcelain crown is making single crowns in the frontal region of the dental arch.

The advantage of the porcelain crown is that less tooth material is needed to be removed comparing to the traditional methods, the dentist removes only a slight layer of the tooth.

The advantages of the pressed ceramic crown

The modern dentistry applies metal-free prostheses. The pressed ceramic crown does not contain any kind of metal, so it is recommended for those who are allergic to metals. This is a 100% metal-free crown, it is antiallergic and has a high biocompatibility.

The whole crown is made of ceramic material, so it has a higher esthetic effect compared with those that contains metal. With this, the natural colour of your tooth can be restored.

The translucency of the porcelain is similar to the human teeth.

Pressed ceramic crowns are mechanically stable, durable, a perfect choice for the frontal region of the dental arch. It fits perfectly onto the prepared tooth.

An other advantage is that less tooth material is needed to be removed, so there is less chance to harm the pulp tissue.

How do we make pressed ceramic crowns in NaturaDENT laser dentistry?

In case you would like to change your traditional crown for an esthetic porcelain one, or you just think you might nedd to get a crown, do not hesitate to find us, we are kindly waiting for you for a dental check-up. At this first appointment, we make a panoramic x-ray to get a panoramic view of the status of your teeth under and above the soft tissues.

Getting a pocelain crown is a pain-free procedure!

In case we prepare the tooth for a crown, we use local anaesthesia. If it is needed, after removing the decayed parts, we rebuild the shape that is optimal for putting a crown on it. If the tooth is root-canal filled, a tooth-coloured special stick might be needed to get glued in to strengthen the structure.

After taking impressions, a dental technician is the one who makes the crown.

Until the crown-making is in progress, you get a provisional crown, which can be made immediately at the side of the chair, or with a few day’s waiting time in the dental laboratory.

If the crown is ready, we try it in. If you think it has the perfect colour, shape, and function, we permanently cementate it in.

What is the role of laser in the process of making a porcelain crown?

Before the permanent cementation, we treat your gingiva with laser to get a bacteria- and saliva-free surface.

With the help of laser, we can fix the crown onto a bacteria-free, sterile surface, which makes this crown a life-long solution.

We are looking forward to see you at our practice!
